Is it a kind of madness?

Having just started cycling after many years absence I have been doing 9 miles every other day.

Today I went out, just got back, and if you know Manchester you`ll know it rains. It rains a lot.
Today it rained like hell........and most of it fell on me!
I was absolutely drowned.

But I loved it!!!

Will this madness go away?

I always find a perverse pleasure in riding in the rain, yet I don't like setting off for a ride when it's raining!

I often wonder the same thing. I think it must take a certain kind of masochism to actually feel stronger a rider as the weather worsens!

Just wait until it snows. That's a lot of fun

I rode in snow, and when it was snowing, for the first time only last January. Most bizarre and not at all as I expected. No major handling issues, in fact I was quite surprised at how undue my natural conservatism was. It was a fresh fall though. It'd be a different story if it'd been lying around for a few days, I'm sure.

I did really enjoy it tbh. Not at all what I'm used to.

There's no escape, just learn to live with it.

(You need to hand over your plastic cards, cheque book etc. to a responsible adult as well)

+1. Began commuting six weeks ago prompted mostly to save lots of time and money. The cycling and fitness slant was secondary. Now, if I couldn't get on my bike every day I'd go bananas, and although I save about an hour a day, it's costing me a fortune in kit, tools and various upgrades to the bike. It's almost like being a teenager again, though the cycling/totty interest ratio has reversed!

BTW I commute to Manchester centre from Bardsley (between Oldham and Ashton) - 7 miles each way.

It`s so good to know I`m not alone! So I can now expect to spend loads of dosh, go out in really bad, wet, cold, windy weather, ignore all else(even totty)

Strangley enough I`ve been doing that already for years!

I am of course a fisherman ;)
