Is Cable Adjuster Necessary

Hi Guys,

Just fitted a new set of 105 shifters and in my haste did not fit a barrel adjuster for the front mech ( there wasn't one in the box so I never thought of it... DOH ).

Now it's shifting smoothly and everything is working as it's should however, have I just put of the inevitable and will need to fit one at some stage in the near future. Is it possible to get away without fitting one without paying harshly for it at some time in the near future. Your opinions are valued.

I haven't used one for years. Once you've adjusted the initial cable stretch your indexing is ok for ages, IME.

You dont need it but they can make things easier

My Athena FD was a real pain to set-up with all the clamping, testing, re-clamping etc, so I fitted an in-line adjuster and got the setup working perfectly. Have only had to make very small adjustments since and am really glad I don't have to through clamping palaver again.
