So after dragging my trusty old MTB over to France while the Triban sulked, I have just treated it to some new tyres and brakes. Wow...there's life in the old dog yet!
I took off my ultralight expensive knobbly Panaracers and replaced them with some 1.75 Schwalbe semi slick 'Urban' tyres. Should have done this ages ago. So they are actually rather heavier (the Panaracers were folders and 'state of the art') but these are SO much better on the road...grippier, faster rolling and less noisy.
Then, I replaced the dubious brake blocks with Koolstop Salmon fronts and Koolstop dual formula MTB rears. Wow-what a combination! A bit spendy...but hey....brakes that actually work (in the wet!) and inspire confidence.
So...if you want to rejuvenate your old hack...I recommend sprucing up yer rubber!...But then - I AM on medication!
Hours of fun.
