Inverse brake levers

I've just got a nice Moulton F-frame, it's not a Safari (it's mainly a Deluxe) but has been fitted with drop bars in a homage to Safaris – it looks lovely (in my opinion) but I'm reluctantly coming to the conclusion I can't get on with the drops – even at their maximum height, I'm stooping and pulling the brake levers is very uncomfortable – so I'm thinking of putting straight bars on it.

The obvious thing would be to put some Moulton Deluxe bars and brake levers on it – but I'm wondering if I should try something completely different (because I have a habit of being a pain in the a***e and not doing the sensible thing).

My question is, what are the cons of fitting straight bars with inverse brake levers (the sort that go into the bar ends)? I think they might look interesting but I'm quite happy to be told it's a really stupid idea – especially if you tell me why it's a stupid.
Thank you.

These are the sort of things I had in mind…

All I would suggest is that you need to look at the amount of travel available

Providing the brake lever pulls sufficient cable then it is safe in the engineeering sense

Thanks – does that just involve the cables being long enough to reach the levers? (new brake cables aren't a problem).

That looks lovely, I'd want to leave it alone if I could, if I had to change things I'd want to do it very carefully and try and make sure I didn't spoil the look to much.

I have that type of lever on my TT bike and there has never been an issue with braking if that's a concern you have .

When you squeeze the lever it moves and pulls the cable, which in turn pulls the brake levers

The cable pulled by the lever is constant and independent of the cable length

The only problem is if the lever touches the bars before the brake blocks clamp on the rim ..

Thanks one and all.

I do love the looks of it now, but the drops will probably be going – the person who did all the work wasn't trying to restore it as a Deluxe, so I'm not wanting to make it authentic, but will try to be in keeping with its 'quirky' character.
