Introducing the kids to cycling

I've a 7 yr old who's very keen about getting a racing bike - to be fair to him he loves his wee BMX type bike. It's a pastime I'd love to get him into as opposed to Gaming etc.. I 've been telling him you have to be 11 but I've really no idea when he should could go onto a junior racing bike.

Any ideas?

Try and find a local club. My lad (8) has just started to go to a British Cycling Go-Ride club but they do not seem to cover NI. Most things seem to start at 8 years old for some reason (probably insurance). Kiddies roadbikes are a bit limited but Isla bikes do a nice one (Luath)

You could see if one of these is close to you and see if they can help.
