Hi,

I am a newbie and have just go into cycling. I'm now all equipped with a beautiful Felt F4SL...and have started training up in order to do some good ling rides...thinking of going to Birmingham for a curry and later trying to cycle up from London to Norfolk.

My main question is should I join a cycling club. I live in Fulham, London and attempt to head out to Richmond Park for 1-3 laps on a weekend. Not quite at 3 (if i go clockwise), but aiming to be there within a month to 6 weeks.

I've tried CTC, but can't seem to find anything. Any ideas?

P.S this is an awesome site!

Thanks

Vik

Hi Vik, I'm in a similar position to you and was wondering whether to join a club in/around London. There's a club finder on the British Cycling website you can flick through. The closest clubs for you (and for me) are probably London Dynamo or Kingston Wheelers. London Dynamo do Saturday rides around Richmond Park (3 or 4 laps) so I was thinking of popping along when I'm feeling up to it.

Thanks! I had heard of Dynamo - think I need to get a little fitter...will give it a few weeks before giving them a go.

only silver lining is that my cycling at present is on my own, so hopefully a group session will be a little easier...

Kingston Wheelers have a decent site and forum. Judging by the pics of bikes thread on there though, there are a lot of very serious types. Come along on one of the Cyclechat London & Home Counties rides sometime. Casual pace normally and a great bunch of people!

This thread
has details of the monthly informal rides.
This may also be of some interest.

Cheers,
