hi all, was readinf an article by james huang (can't link but a google search will bring it up) where he wrote about the cons of external style wheel quick release, and that many manufacturers were moving back to the internal qr design. My wheelsets are a mixture and i habe never thought about them before, but on this one i am beginning to agree with him. What are your thouhhts on it?

External was marketed as a boutique 'upgrade', but internal is clearly superior in terms of clamping force.

Probably on modern bikes with vertical dropouts you don't necessarily need the extra clamping force. I have a bike with horizontal dropouts and an external QR skewer was pretty useless on this as the wheel would tend to pull across and rub on the chainstays unless I got it done REALLY tight, but an internal one is much better.
