Got the new bike today (yay.)
Everything looks manageable to set up, but I can't install the front wheel. It's quick release (and I know the skewer's not in, I don't think that's the issue), and perhaps the pictures will help explain:

The fork doesn't seem to want to go on....I don't really know what to do and I don't want to force it....any ideas?

Thanks a lot and merry christmas

Thanks for the replies; nope, not the brakes, since they're not even on yet

Solution? Push down harder....problem solved.

Now I feel a right twit ;)

Looks like [ taking a breather from family ] the fork ends need to be touched with a file.
Rear faces only until the spindle slips in nicely.

H Xmas.

Thanks guys, all working now, been out for quick test ride (or three). Just need to sort the annoying clicky-when-pushing-down thing in high gears, which I am near certain is due to the derailleur setup, which I had to do myself...

As always, all you needed was a bigger hammer
