There I was today quietly enjoying a good ride and the glorious weather when a hornet decided to join me on the ride inside my cycle clothing.:hugs:
I found out when I experienced a horrible sting on the side of my abdomen because I had restricted its freedom of movement.
I stopped very quickly, removed my top.(also very quickly).
This beast dropped out onto the road. At first I thought it was a wasp but, on closer inspection, it was much too big for a wasp. Definitely a hornet.
I am now in considerable pain with a 2 inch angry red swelling on my abdomen.
Probably going to get a disturbed nights sleep tonight.
Oh , the joys of cycling in the countryside.

I get bitten by anything which flies, midges, mozzies etc and can react quite badly as well. I always use Anthisan cream which I find great for taking the itchiness away.

i feel for you mate. i got savaged last week by a horse fly, three times around the same area and had a reaction to it. to cut a long story short i ended up on antibiotics for a week and couldnt walk because of the swelling. Hope it doesnt cause to much discomfort and i can second the Anthisan cream

Try lemon juice or vinegar on that hornet sting. Wasps have alkaline venom, this will neutralize. Bee venom is acid, so bicarb of soda or weak ammonia will help. Geese are also getting into windfall apples, and they are considerably larger, though not venomous.
