Innertubes

My tyre measures 700 x 42c. I purchased a new innertube from halfords 700 x32 to 38mm (was advised by the sales guy). I'm now worried that this is the wrong size!! or will it do? Thanks for any help

It is the wrong size but it will be fine, Advice from halfords is unlikely to be good.

Probably be OK but you will be inflating to its limit . May be better to swap it for a 38 _45 . Halfords doing a multi deal at the moment on inner tubes . Also check value type presta or schredar you want the same type you have already for your pump to fit

Thank you to everyone for the advice. I did write down the tyre size and thought at the time I should have questioned the innertube provided. How difficult it can be to provide the correct size!! Will know not to go to halfords for guidance in future.
