Being very tightfisted and also rather clumsy I have managed to snap the fiddly little valve thingy on the inner tube of my new bike. I was swapping the 700 x 35c knobbly tyres for some smoother 35c tyres off of my hybrid just until the end of the month so that I can buy some 700 x 28 gatorskins or something similar just after payday.

So, I went to the bike shop and asked if they did tubes that would cover all of the bases, they said they had 25c-32c or something bigger. So, on the lookout to save a couple of quid I bought the smaller tubes thinking that they will need to last me two weeks before I get the thinner tyres.

So, I pumped the tyre up and took the bike to school, on they way back I noticed that the tyre wasn't seated right. Is this likely to be me rushing the job and not checking it properly, or could it be that the smaller tubes aren't right for the tyre size.

Thanks for any help.

I would think that it is you rushing the job and not checking it properly, the tube (although not ideal) should stretch to fit the slightly larger tyre. But I am sure there will be someone along with a more definitive answer soon...

Thanks, I have just seated it again and I think it was me rushing things. It was probably the narrower rims that threw me. I hadn't quite cleared the tube from the side of the tyre.

Thank god I don't have to go out and buy another tube. And thanks for the quick reply.
