Hello I've just brought a survival tool kit and it has room for a spare tube, so can someone suggest a decent one ? And I've seen some with different mm valves does that matter what size I get? Or what size is standard?

There's two types in common use, Presta and Schrader.
Presta are the smaller type that you have to unscrew the top to inflate, and Schrader are wider. Check what your bike has and try and keep to the same valve.
BTW, A Schrader valve won't fit through a rim designed for Presta valve and it's best not to use a Presta with a Schrader rim.

I think pretty much all modern roadbikes have presta valves

Get the cheapest one from your local bike shop, they are much of a muchness. Longer valves are easier IMO to get the pump on. Measure the valve on your existing tube and if it's ok for pumping, get the same. You'll need one that fits your tyre width.

I can confirm the Halfords own brand are great for the price. I however hate the valve on them as my old valves had locking nuts so you could put the pump on and the tube would not get pushed in. First world problems huh

You can often get 3 for a tenner deals from cycle surgery and others. I wouldn't pay a fiver for a tube. Then I don't bother trying to repair

Five here for under £18 assuming you are on 23mm tyres http://www.wiggle.co.uk/vittoria-road-inner-tube-pack-of-5/

Just don't buy some cheap innertubes from ebay, I did that and found one that had very small holes along the seam (just down to cheap rubbish)
so lesson learnt:sad:

so your local bike shop, or I got one last sunday (the LBS was shut) from Tesco's as I needed a tube for my commuter bike,£3, for the MTB
Think it was £3.60 for the size you need (road bike 700c)
