Hi everyone!

Little bogged down with the fact I've managed to get myself a puncture within 2 miles of my first full ride out on my new road bike and have yet to fully remedy the problem.

The tyres that were provided with the bike have schwalbe lugano on them – with "active line K guard" next to the "lugano" text. A quick search on the Schwalbe website says that it means it has a kevlar membrane.. Correct me if I'm wrong?

I'm going to make it my mission to fix this inner tube so that it can be used as an emergency spare whilst out on a ride - but I am looking to get myself back onto the road as soon as I can really.

My questions really are whether these supplied tyres are good to stay with or should I look at something "better"? As for inner tubes, are there any advantages in buying a premium product, say Continental, over a standard product, say Halfords' own brand?

My original plan is to get a new inner tube onto the rear wheel (which tyre has gone flat) so that it's a problem solved and then get to work on repairing the inner tube. Maybe buy some more inner tubes as spares.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Get yourself some self adhesive patches and some tyre levers . Add a pump and just carry on riding . Punctures area PITA but no big deal .

Just a thought.
Being as it was/is a new bike. Did you check that the tyres were pumped up to full pressure before you set off ?
Quite often they are pumped up just to fill the tubes.

It was picked up yesterday afternoon and I watched the guys at the LBS pump the tyres up to 100psi , I hadn't pumped them up since then as I thought they wouldn't require topping up.

I heard a loud clicking noise whilst out on the bike today, stopped and looked down to find a large thorn in the back tyre. Without thinking I pulled the thorn out and for few maybe five second there was a loud hissing noise, when this noise stopped I jumped back on the bike without the need to pump up the tyre and road the bike 10 miles home.

That is the benefits of Stans.

That's what I initially thought, I didn't really expect there to be a huge difference.

They regularly do 3 for 2 so also do work out as a bargain.

I did weigh some tubes and there can be a difference, though nothing I worry about at my level, Wilkinsons do reasonable priced ones again as Ian says they also do 3 for 2 sometimes.
