Any opinions on wether to continue using a previously punctured tube. I had an incident today with a tiny shard of stone giving my rear wheel a slow puncture. I was lucky to be able to repair the tube whilst in the middle of my ride ( god bless my topeak survivalbox ) and it came home without further problems.. Any opinions as to wether I should fit a new one or carry on using the damaged tube. Its a good quality, high pressure, Continental, suitable for my 700 x 23 Lugano tyre.

I think you will find that a lot of people here repair and re-use tubes.
I certainly do. Repaired properly they are just as good as a new tube.

Fit a new one and stick them in a plastic bag and one weekend, sit down with a pump and puncture kit and repair them all. You'll find you have more than enough tubes

I make a point, every time I go into the LBS, to buy a spare tube.

That way I've always got plenty and just change them.

The only time I patch is if I get 2 punctures on the same ride  simples

i buy new in bulk 10 at a time and just replace them , i went through a phase of getting double punctures and spent more time repairing than i did riding

I always fit a new/repaired tube at the roadside, then I repair and re-cycle the old tube when I get home can be bothered

Same as you, but when I get home I tend to fix puncture and refit that tube.
A properly repaired tube is fine and think of what you will save in the long run. It seems wasteful to just bin a tube that can be repaired.
If it is a snake bite I will chuck it as trying to fix 2 holes in close proximity has never seemed to work very well for me.

can't be arsed with repairing tubes. Carry a spare tube and a PRK on rides, but the PRK has only been used once on a double puncture ride.

I know it might seem wasteful and lazy but punctured tubes just get binned.

Why throw something away when it's still perfectly usable?

"We're rapidly using up the world's resources but it's OK, I've got loads of money so why should I bother repairing this inner tube with a tiny hole in it, when I can go out and buy as many new ones as I want?"

It's a sad sign of the times.

As others have said - fit a new one on the side of the road, repair that one at home and keep as a spare. Even if it has 2 repairs. Done properly there is nothing to worry about

I keep repairing until the tube has 3 or 4 patches, then I discard. I always carry a new tube in my small saddle bag.

I always repair. I have tubes which are more patches than tubes. Seems so wasteful to throw away something that can be easily repaired in a few seconds.

I fit new ones on the roadside and repair the old one at home. A properly repaired tube works as good as new - so long as the damage isn't too great. I agree with those who say that throwing away a perfectly good tube is a waste of ressources. It's not a good image for cycling or cyclists.

I used to throw them away, but the new self-adhesive patches make fixing almost as easy as replacing

As opposed to the rubber patches, glue, plastic film over the patch, metal container for the glue, plastic glue cap, plastic or metal container for the puncture outfit and chalk? More working processes there than making one innertube.

I never repair them. Just replace with a new innertube
