Just thought I needed to let off steam about nagging injuries. I have had a good deal of lower back and sacro-iliac pain in recent months. Not sure what brought it on, although an 'innocent' tumble last August could have been the start. I've not really ridden at all since November, apart from a few half-hearted attempts on the turbo trainer. Having an MRI scan soon to check the lumbar spine.
I've just turned 50, and in the last two months everything seems to be catching up with me. At 49 I used to cycle 50 miles and not worry about it. Now my wrist hurts (from coming off last year) my shoulder isn't quite right (probably landed on it too many times), and I think my knee is on a limited life schedule!
On top of that, some idiot drove into the back of my car last month, and I'm suffering recurring whiplash!
A big part of me wants to get back on the bike and enjoy my cycling, but with so many aches and pains at the moment, my heart really isn't in it! Spring is approaching, and that's the best time of year to ride.
I guess I'll just have to take a sabbatical from real riding, and enjoy a few short outings when the body allows.

I hear that!
I turned 50 in November.
I have also had a frustrating time with my health since 2007. My brain tells me to do more than my body will allow!
As well as Arthritis in my spine, neck and knees, I have Fibromyalgia and suffer a lot of soft tissue injuries and have so many physio sessions I've lost track. I've had surgery on my elbow and currently awaiting an MRI on my shoulder. You'd think after all these years I would learn to pace myself
I do sympathise, it's very frustrating and sometimes you feel like you've aged overnight!
It will get better :hugs:

Hiya skipper, sorry to hear your feeling pantz! Treat your self to a nice body massage, your local college will be able to do this for less than a tenner. :addict:

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and use your turbo trainer until you have a MRI scan even if is just for 30 minutes three to four times a week, I have a prolapsed disc and also waiting for an MRI too and I'm lot older than you, but I refused to give into it and I don't want to loose my fitness so I'm using my turbo for 7 hours per week.
