I injured my hamstring last week ( non cycling related ) and due to the pain becoming increasingly worsening attended A and E today.
Hamstring injuries confirmed and 6 weeks physio to commence tomorrow.
Has anyone else experienced hamstring issues and if so how long had it stopped you cycling ?

I tore my hamstring in my early 20's playing football one of those ones you see on the tele when a sportsperson is in full flight and then go down like a sniper has got them with a 50 cal. Ive never been shot but if it hurts more than tearing your hamstring then i feel sorry for the victim. I was in bed for 2 days then could walk on it but walking up stairs was the worst. Its boring but rest is the only cure i found. It took me 3 months before i could run comfortably and another 2 before i could play football again. From then on i appreciated the "if you dont stretch you will pull something" very very true. Get well soon bud.

i almost completely tore mine a few years ago (the top 2/3 on my left thigh was a massive bruise for 3 weeks) took me 3 months before i was back at kung fu training but just took it very easy on the bike after the bruising had gone down. i still feel it now if i havent stretched or it is cold, need to stretch a lot more than i am as cant get past my mid shin if i try and touch my toes at the moment!

just take it easy, no sudden jerks and no running on it for a while. the nurse that saw me said wait until at least a week after it stops hurting then build back up steadily to your workouts

I pulled a hamstring while (of all things) taking a fencing class in college. En garde!

I wasn't cycling at the time but I remember it took about a month for the pain to go away.

Wow, you got 6 weeks physio on BHARAT or is this private. Always had to pay out of my pocket up here, can't get anything from the NHS. Stock answer is take more pain killers. Just got that answer again from the Hospital, take anti inflammatory before exercise, and come back in 3 months.
