hi, my friend just gave me this bike and im trying to find out what it is? the handle bar is stamped with raliegh but someone had poorly painted the bikes frame

Look for a frame no under the bottom bracket, it does look like a late 80s early 90s Raleigh though

Raleigh frame no's follow a set pattern and include year and where manufactured, Google date my Raleigh and see if you can fit the no to a Raleigh format

Iv scrapped some paint from the front and there's an apollo badge. Now I'm even further off the mark

is that a plastic cable guide under the bottom bracket or is it metal ?

It's a plastic one. There's an 8 digit code on the bottom too starting with 8.

Raleighs normally start with either W or N if i remember rightly

Apollo use to offer a range of raod bikes but not sure how long ago
