My daughter thought it would be a lovely idea to ride into my rear derailleur yesterday and now it's all over the place.

I have never had to adjust a sram rear derailleur before so any advice would be welcome.

If the derailleur was fine before the accident then it is more likely that the gear hanger and/or the mech has got bent. Check hanger for straight first. This will be obvious if you stand behind the bike and look at the hanger and sprockets. If not too bent then possible to bend back - best to have the right tool for this - if not take to LBS. If badly bent then find new gear hanger and fit it. If hanger is straight and mech is bent then new mech time .
