I have replaced my chainset, chain and rear cassette but I am struggling to get the gears changing smoothly.
I set them up as per manual however
I can set them so they change up ok but won't come down
Or
I can set them to to go down but won't come up
Anyone know what the answer could be ?
My only thoughts are to change the rear mech the idea being if everything else was worn and was changed then may be that too is worn!
HELP!!!

Perhaps the gear cables have friction somewhere along them, or caught a little in one of those bits of the frame it goes through, so they arent being released enough to let it travel down as easily as it should.

I referred to the manual and the video above to set it all up but the problem still persists.
The cable snagging in its sheath may be the cause I will remove this and oil it up worth a try anyway.
Cheers

If a gear changes up it should change down. that's the theory anyway.

you may get 1 or 2 sticky jumps that just needs a bit of fine tuning

Did you completely reset the barrel adjuster. i/e completely screw it all the way in first? I find thats the best way. Also check the down tube adjusters as well.

There's SUCH a fine line between smooth up and smooth down.. It's literally a 1/8 turn window to get it bang on. It requires everything to be moving as slick as can be. Cables through sheathing, derailleur across its travel.

Also, it's almost impossible to get it bang on when its not under load. Trying to fine tune with the bike in a stand has never worked for me, I either bung it on the trainer or go for a 10 miler.

This.

I get it as close as I can at home, and then fine tune on the road.

Check that you have clamped the cable correctly - if you get it the wrong side of the clamp bolt you will get exactly that problem.
