Like some others on here I've signed up for the Polocini Winter Sprinter on Sunday.

I'd also convinced a mate of mine to sign up too, unfortunately, he's damaged his knee and will not be able to ride.

He emailed the organisers, and ( unlike 99% of other event teams ) they've arrranged a credit for his entry fee - lets just hope the rest of the event shares this level of customer service.

I'll still be riding - so say hello as you pass the fat bloke in the CycleChat top

I'll say hello as you pass me  . I'll be the wheezing lump on the red scott speedster. By the way, have you been contacted yet regarding your preference of food package? ie standard or pro option. It says o nthe site that they'll contact everyone prior to the event. I haven't had anything yet.

Apologies Polocini. I'm new to this sportive lark and my impatience gets the better of me sometimes  . I have now received the emails, thanks very much. Looking forward to Sunday.

well, the email with the rider briefing certainly sets out some exceptional features. If you deliver what you say you will, we're in for a superbly organised event.

Looking forward to it. Forecast looks good too.

No pressure then Paul L!!!!

I'm hoping to keep adding things to the sportives as they go on. I ran out of money for the winter sprinter and had to drop some really good stuff I was working on. You'll have to make do with food, drink, cnp products,a timed climb, bike racks, shelters at the hq and all the other little things I didn't mention in the emails....................................not too bad??????

no pressure at all ;)

the standard of services offered in the run up has been brilliant. I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow. I have already been priming some mates to look out for future events.

All ready to go. just checked the bike over (good job too 'cos my back tyre was flat!!). Gave me an excuse to buy some new tyres, there was a chunk of glass in the back one.

Well, the organiser certainly set himself some high targets..... the question is did the actual event live up to the promises?

I've just got back, and the answer has to be a resounding yes.

From start to finish the day was absolutely spot-on. Decent venue with ample parking, hastle free registration. Excellent food both pre and post-ride.

The feedstations were well stocked and staffed by plenty of friendly marshalls. The route was a cracking choice. Mainly quiet country roads, and a decent mixture of a fast, flat start and a hilly ending.

Even the weather was perfect.

The only (minor) issue was the quality of some of the signage. The signs were there..... but the black/white colour scheme didn't stand out enough making spotting some of the turns a last minute adventure in panic braking.

On the whole though, this definately stands out as one of the best run sportives I've done, and based on todays experience I wouldn't hesitate to recommend another Polocini event.

Thank you for your comments. After a long weekend it really is genuinely appreciated.
