....of 'clipless moments'!

My first pair of cycling shoes arrived from FatBirds this morning; I was like a kid at Christmas!

Shortly after I'd fitted the cleats and pedals, I was out on a quiet car park, riding then stopping, riding then stopping - practising the art of clippping then unclipping.

Within ten minutes, I became a complete expert (;)) until I was faced with a real life situation of giving way to a slow moving car on the car park. When I stopped, I then totally forgot about everything and down I went!!:biggrin:

Nothing damaged but clearly more practise needed!

Just thought I'd share,
Martyn

Hehe, glad you didnt get hurt martyn!

My episode happened a few weeks into the new setup.. I was so busy making sure I was in the right gear approaching some TL's to stop when I noticed myself toppling by wich point it was too late.

A concerned lady in the car next to me wound her window down to ask if I was alright, the only thing damaged was my pride! ;)

on my first go i went to the shops to buy a paper. right in front of the newsagents (in front quite a few people) was where i went down.

been using them for about 1month now and have had no other problems (in terms of falling). only once did i come close to falling when i approach a busy junction. i had one foot out ready to stop but as i was watching the traffic i started to go over the other way. managed to get my foot out and catch myself.

i have had a few issues on roundabouts where i haven't managed to clip in quick enough and therefore haven't been able to slot into my space, but thankfully no oncoming drivers have been stupid about it.

wouldn't go back now though.

There is nothing like feeling a total jerk in this predicament !

Esp. when it happened to me and I had a car driver and passengers 'veryconcerned'...god I wanted to be anywhere but THERE !

At least I'm not on my own!

When I was considering getting clipless pedals, I was reading some of the stories on CC just laughing to myself thinking how silly!

I agree with some of the things I've read though - everything just turns into slow motion
