I'm feeling decidedly off-colour today. Probably a cold/virus/infection of some kind but definitely one of those 'no obvious symptoms' kind of illnesses. All my limbs are intact, no gushing blood or gaping wounds.... just feeling dog tired, lethargic and can't be arsed.

I'm sure if Doc McCoy passed his health scanner gismo thing over me he'd say something like it's life Jim but not as we know it potassium levels are low, or some such. It'd be so cool to know such stuff....

Stop being so stupid and go and take a lie down in the cell regenerator.

"warp core conduit".... I like it.

I think maybe I'll look at cell regeneration once McCoy has done his 5 second analysis trick with the gizmo.

The semi-serious side to this was that I reckon blood chemistry plays a big part in our well being. I guess that's pretty obvious really. I reckon our blood chemistry is broadly similar but subtly different for each of us, possibly even unique.

Here in France, they seem to put great store on blood tests as a diagnostic tool. I've had more blood tests in the 3 years I've been here than I ever had in the UK.

The UCI's blood passport (pro cycling) charts each riders blood chemistry for the purposes of establishing a base line so that any future deviations from that base can be further investigated, in case of doping.

So it seems our blood chemistry is, within bounds, stable and deviations from our own norms is an indicator of illness. I wonder how subtle those changes can be?

The food we eat obviously influences our blood chemistry (think food allergies). Coffee and alcohol 'poison' us; what does that look in our blood?

Yep, I reckon that Star Trek gizmo would be an excellent gadget to have. Just to quickly establish what your norms are, and monitor how they might change when you're feeling under the weather.

I must remember to add 'blood chemistry' to my google list! Ah, it's all whimsy. Breakfast awaits.

McCoy's gizmo is new technology. The Electromagnetic pulse cellular ionisation regenetaror is old technology. Even older technology is Hermes' ( Mercury to the Romans ) Caduceus.
On touching any of your bodily fluids, it analyses your DNA, identifies any abnormalities and corrected DNA can be implanted into your Bone marrow to cure your ills.
