Looks good (I'm a trek fan anyway), but obviously depends what you want to use it for.

Also, is there a trek dealer near you where you could try one for size and fit?

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum.
What are you hoping to use your bike for bike for?
* recreation?
* utility?
* commuting?
* shopping?
* fitness training/weight loss?
* touring?

I ask because different uses will require your bike to have different capabilities. For instance: if you'll be wanting to commute on it in all weathers, you might want want to check that it can take mudguards.

Cheers for your reply. I will be using the bike for weight loss maybe an hour a day. mainly on road and a little off road, ie canal paths

Good luck with it and keep us up to date with your progress!

I think you'll find the bike very heavy :biggrin:
This is a difficult price range really. With the price of bikes and components soaring through the roof its difficult to get more that the the most basic of frames and the cheapest of components .I think you will be disapointed with this bike after a few weeks /months

My advice would be to go for a road bike with straight bars and road wheels and tyres. 90 % of your riding is going to be on asphalt not canal paths. Any road bike is quite capable of a few miles on canal paths unless they are very rough or muddy.

You are going to get a much better quality used bike than new at this price. I would look for a used bike from a lbs you should be able to get a £500 bike for £250

Just found a better link that gives a full spec.

This bike isn't suited to road use. It is predominantly an off road bike with huge 35c tyres It is intended for off road use with occasional road riding. You want the reverse .

I'm with Peanut - pick a bike to suit the majority of your riding. Mind you a bike like that will shift the lard if you don't get disillusioned with the whole idea after a couple of months of humping that weight around.
