Hi everyone!

This is my first post here  I tried to find some compares on websites between different hybrid brands or models but with no luck.
I think this kind of forum will be the best place to find what I'm looking for ))

I'm thinking about hybrid. Basically for rides with my family on weekends and as my every day transport to work about 2miles one way. I'm over 5'6" (169cm)

I find this few models, can you write which one is the best buy and which one is the worse  I have no idea about the brands, this is what I think is OK  I would like to spend about £250!

1- Globe Vienna 1 or 2
2- Globe Caramel
3- Dawes Red Feather
4- Halcyon Samara
5- Claud Butler Boulevard or maybe some different model

Thank you for great forum!!

Hi Agnes
Welcome ot the forum.
I joined a few days ago and asked a similar question about which hybrid between £250 - 350ish.
Although I'm male, slightly taller and alot heavier, some of the replies might be of interest.
(I'm presuming the bikes suggested have female models).

Hi Agnes
I had the same quandry. I settled for an Orbea Spectrum - It is outside your price range but if you get it on the 'cycle to work' scheme (ask your company if they support it), it will dramatically reduce the cost. If you do go down this route, make sure you buy all the gubbins such as lights, lock etc as you will get the same 30 - 40% discount. I bought the Orbea as it is hand made by a cooperative in Spain.

Have a look in Evans - their Pinnacle bikes are good - good range of ladies hybrids. We've literally just ordered the Pinnacle Stratus 3.0 Womens having looked at them all in the shop - the basic spec 0.0 ones are very good from £229 up to £399 (£50 off at present).

Cycle Surgery are starting to reduce their bike prices! Presumably in anticipation of the 2011 models.

Anyway some of the models you listed are there and they may just have a shop by you, for you to go and have a look.

Have you tried test riding them? Don't buy without test riding, any good bike shop will let you test ride the bikes before you buy, it is really the only way of knowing which bike is best for you... ;)

I am using a Giant Roam 2 W which I bought for £380 but who knows, you might get some off it in the sales. It's a truely fantastic bike, and fits like a glove! I have covered ~130 very comfortable miles on it so far.

Would definitely recommend it

My advice though is to go and test ride them. I wouldn't buy a bike without test riding it. Buy the bike that will make you get out there and ride.

Hi, i bought a Globe Vienna 1 last week, and am very happy with it so far, only done about 30miles on it yet though, mostly on towpaths and bridleways, although i dont really have anything to compare it with as its my first 'proper' bike, so far so good.
