I bought the carrera frame from saluki yesterday but due to a bit of miscommunication it seems the frame is the next size up from what i normally ride .
I normally ride with a 100 stem and 3 cm of saddle setback giving me 39 cm from saddle tip to centre of the stem cap but the new bike with the same setback gives 41 cm so i am guessing i need a 80 mm stem?
The idea is to transfer the kit off the virtuoso to make a new commuter unless i could beg shifters and a mech because i am skint for the foreseeable future.

In essence sure. I normally ride with more stem and setback on a smaller 51cm frame.

Currently have a larger frame 54 with shorter stem and saddle fore! Its a different beast. Totally horrible. Avoid  sadly. Though i do have a brand new Deda 90mm if yiu require one in a pinch

Do you mean your saddle set back is different ? Thats a no no , my setback and reach/drop will be the same so hopefully the only difference will be steering response might be a bit twitchier and as its just going to be the commuter with panniers etc it might be a good thing as fully loaded it can be a bit slow .
Thanks for the offer but from past experience of running the other bike with 10 cm to long stem after 50-60 miles i used to get neck ache as i was a little bit to stretched out so the set up i have now is fairly optimal for me atm.

Theoretically you have to adjust saddle forwards on a larger frame do you not?
You should have the set back from the BB the same as your other bike measured by dropping a plumb line from the tip of the saddle and measuring the amount behind the BB for your prefered set up.This can be the same as resetting KOPS for the new frame if you use that measurement although if your fore or aft of that depedning on preference i prefer that saddle behind BB method assuming you use the same saddle type on all the bikes which makes it easy.
Altering saddle set back obviously affects your optimal (?) pedaling technique and also setback affects seat height as pulling the saddle forward whilst keeping the same seat height effectively reduces seat height or leg bend angle .
So its best to keep the same height / set back and then alter reach /drop with stem length, angle and spacers to give you the 3 contact points that work for you . If you have pulled your saddle forward to adjust reach and then altered stem length no wonder the bike feels a different beast if i had read it right ?

I think I have a 70mm stem you could try out if you want, for oversized bars in the middle though...
Tis a riser stem though (cinelli branded)
PM if you are interested and I can post it to you for you to try out and if it is suitable....
Thanks but 80 mm is the exact measurement i need to get my set up the same as my other road bikes , that way i can do a quick transfer of the bars , cables etc and have the bike ready to go as before , looking at the pics i might need to drop it a spacer as well .

sorry, misread it and for some reason came out with 70mm from your figures... one of those days I guess!
