Hi, just assembling my newly delivered specialized roubaix sl4 disc and looking at the brifters think I must be missing a couple of covers. Both shifters seem to be missing them. Surely you shouldn't be seeing the internal workings.

Shimano 685 11 speed shifters.

No, they look fine, mine are the same

Just out of curiosity I had a Google, the hydraulic ones are different to the cable, with the hydraulic ones open to the elements ..... must admit looks odd with the internals on display.

Yes they are hydro, just looks wrong to see the internals, the view pictured is looking at the inside side of the shifters...(looking outwards from the stem)...

ok, cheers all,

My first drop bar bike for over 20 years so things are a bit new to me. Given the exposed design do you need to do any maintenance, cleaning or oiling to these parts?
