Work gets in the way, LOL. So I will just have to do with a 6 mile each way commute.

Hang on. That means you're already doing 12 mile rides, albeit with a working day sized break in the middle...

You'll do 20 no bother.

Nice one mate .My commute is only 3 miles but im convinced that commuting gives me an advantage over those that dont.I seem to recover quicker from the longer rides.

Also the regu;lar commuting will help mould your ar$e to the saddle so you will be m,ore comfortable on longer rides.

over the years i have had commutes of varying distances to work all the way up to 24 each way. I am convinced that the one that made me the fittest was a 3 mile each way.

Well done, gaz!

Andyfromotley, elaborate on this 3 mile commute thing please .. I'll soon be dropping from ~7 miles to 3 or so and have been worrying that my pie consumption will have to decrease accordingly. You have given me new hope. :headshake:

I understand the concern, surely the obvious thing is to actually go the long way home, possibly 10 to 15 miles and increase the pie intake:biggrin:
