A clue? There are three branches, one of which is on the Gloucester road. And it's not Bakers.

It's quiet up in't cycling promotion industry at this time of year and they've kindly allowed me some unpaid leave to spend some time with her indoors.

I used to work in a bike shop - the novelty soon wears off! Surrounded but expensive components you can't afford (bike shop pay is usually terrible) getting hassle from the boss to sell more bikes.......customers being idiots!!! Yes, I'm not suitable for retail! It is a better than lots of other jobs though - at least you have an interest in it. Let us know how you get on.

Ah, Pembury's - which branch are you in? I've only ever been in the Gloucester Road one and wasn't really all that impressed, are the other two a bit better (i.e. more stock and range of stuff)?

I think they address the needs of their target audience pretty well. The bulk of their trade is from commuters so folks like us who go in to bike shops hoping drool over some bling are going to be disappointed. Having said that I was chuffed to see a couple of nice Rocky Mountains when I went in today.

>I shall be working in a bike shop in Bristol

Lets all go down and ask Mick' how we ride the bike, we have with us...

Test him a bit :girl:

---------------

I worked in a bike shop once; got sacked for reportedly not tightening up some stabilisers up enough MORAL OF THE STORY: never work for a cycling friend !

Very true - I'm still looking for a Bristol shop with a good range of clothing for roadie types that rivals John's Bikes in Bath.

Which branch are you going to be in? Just so we know where to go when we want to come in and practise our skills in being the worst customer on earth?

I've only ever been in the Gl Rd branch, which I think is the smallest of the 3.

Is Bristol bike-mad like York and Cambridge and Oxford?

We would like it to be ... and hopefully with the cycling city money going towards various things (including training for adults and children) it should become more so.
