Not so much the, ahem, internal variety but the outdoors type.

Was planning a 50km ride to-day, got up, looked out the window and thought "that looks a bit breezy". Checked my local live weather on the web (airport weather reports) and it said "sustained 35mph with gusts to 55mph"

Rain I can live with but not pedalling on the granny gear and standing still.

Ah well, back to taking a old MTB to bits

Don't you just get down on the drops and tuck the elbows in? And if you're just going for a ride and returning whence you came doesn't it balance out? 30 knots may be unpleasant but not impossible. Just find someone to sit behind!!!

I hate wind too. Just knocks the stuffing out of you. Even small winds of 10mph can be a nuisance. Far worse than rain or steep hills imho.

Went out on the club ride this morning. The ride out down the coast was wind assisted. It was very nice cycling at 30 mph without any real effort. And then, we turned for home and 30 mph became a struggling 12-15 mph into a serious headwind. I was glad for the bunch to allow some respite from turns on the front. A couple of side gusts were a little exciting and then I hit a damp drain cover when pootling back to the flat and took some skin off my left knee - not bed just irritating and I now have a couple of designer holes in my bib tights.

The winds great. It slows the group down so that I don't fly off the back on every hill.

It's a bit of a bummer when I do fly off the back though!

Headwinds - an area cycling a recumbent has an advantage over an upright.

I have a friend who has been blown off a Lewis/Harris road whilst riding a recumbent

Pleh.
I just did 40 miles in a howling gale.
It was horrible and I'm completely fubar'd. There was only two of us and so there was no shelter from it.
I particularly dislike it when the wind is so strong it goes right up your nose, whistles through your sinuses and all the other little tubages in your skull, and then comes out of your mouth and ears.
I'm very glad to be back indoors and a steamy hot bath is in order.

Was very hard out in the wind today. It has been pretty calm for the last few weeks so think this made it feel worse too. I was knackered when I got home.
