.. Yep that's right, I am now the proud owner of a Boardman Road Comp 09 via the Cycle 2 Work scheme.

As I had just finished a night shift and wasn't exactly in cycling attire I got the train home with it. Must say, even though I've not ridden it yet it's soooo light.

Got home and removed the pedals straight away and replaced with my Shimano PD-R540 SPD SL Sport Pedals (which will go nicely with my dhb R1 Road Shoes), fitted the Cateye EL130 and LD130 lights and the Bikehut 13 function wireless computer. Cheapy alloy water bottle holder fitted until I can get 2 half decent ones that look better.

Cannot wait to get on it and give it a ride.

I would have had the bike earlier but the one that I was going to pick up was a display model. Went on Sunday and they said that the forks were bent and they would have to source another bike. So for the inconvenience they gave me £40 of accessories so I picked up two Continental Race inner tubes and a Joe Blow Sport II pump which was nice of them.

I'm just gonna sit and stare at it now while I have a cuppa tea

Happy ? Me ? Damn right I am !!!

Very nice, seeing quite a few of those about and they look great.
Seems to have been a bit of initial snobbery about them a couple of years ago which has now given way to almost universal praise.

Enjoy !

Nice one,I hope it gives you many miles of enjoyment.

Im hoping to get on C to W scheme next year for a road bike in that price bracket. The Boardman comp seems good value with 105 groupset on it. Do you know the weight of the bike?

They're chancing it saying the groupset is 105. It has a 105 rear mech. That said, the bike is still excellent value. I have one, and while I still lust after a more expensive machine, I really can't fault it.

Weight on the website is 19.5 lb for a medium with no pedals.

Thanks for that I did wonder about the 105 bit as on some sites it doesnt claim it .Still a nice bike and on my short list.

19.5 l;b is 8.8 kg which is pretty good.(I still weigh myself in stones drink in pints but compare bikes in kg for some reason:biggrin:)

It has tiagra front mech and shifters, tektro brakes, sram crank/chain well I think mine has. This means there is no groupset, only a juggling of nice parts mind. I was considering overhauling the lot after another 2000 miles, or get the LE after xmas (if im lucky).

Any other boardman riders in this pickle or considering something?
