My usual cycle to work is 4.5m/7k and less than a Km in on my Friday ride, I fell off in the park trying to get up the tiniest kerb - D'oh! A trip to MIU at the local hospital and I have a tiny fracture on my left elbow - boo!

Now what do I do - I can't cycle to work as arm is obviously damaged too much... Is it too much to use a bike in the gym as a substitute to keep my fitness up and progressing??

Thoughts?

P.S. the bike is fine.

Did you report it to the police?

Seriously I hope you are ok...I fell off at the lights the other day at 0mph with the only way to go down and did an amazing amount of damage to my knee.

If people are watching don't forget to take a bow.I remembered this time.:okay:

take a good book, prop it up on the exercise bike, lean back, hands off the bike and pedal away!

Welcome to the forum.BTW.

I was down for a few secs then realized my bum was getting wet so jumped up, did a jig to check my legs were okay then checked the rest of me(realising my arm was in pain!) There was no one round to see(or hear) my fall sadly so the bow (or my ji) would not have been appreciated!

Thanks for advice all. I think I will keep it rested until hospital appointment on the 20th and see how that goes then get my kindle propped up in the gym ;)

Some silly moron at work SQUEEZED the injured elbow as a gesture during a conversation without thinking.... THE PAIN:cry:

I have considered a Turbo trainer before but as someone in a first floor flat, I read they are quite noisy? plus getting my bike inside isn't the easiest thing in the world! As a temporary fix, I may have to!

Why not just rest and let your elbow heal? Just do the Physio prescribed exercises to keep it moving

Go for a walk if you need to exercise, or walk to work, hour each way

The problem is I have the cycling bug-it's so catchy!! I will just rest it because I am too sensible not to and fear of further injuries! *puts cycling gear away in the deepest depths of my wardrobe*

Every time I get motivated to run/cycle/swim I ALWAYS get an injury!!
