Today I cycled from Cleadon to the South Shields coast, along the coast, then to the pedestrian tunnel, through Byker and all the way back to my house

I'm not sure of the distance because my odometer is broken

There was yet another storm which dropped loads of hail, so I had to stop because it really stung

The escalators at the tyne pedestrian tunnel are so slow

At least this time my hands and backside didn't hurt

Sam - really good site to check out how long your ride was.

yes - whatever - but if you just want to find out how far you have been, and not record and publish the route for the benefit of all humankind, IMHO bikehike is the most simple, straightforward, intuitive - no need to register/log on/remember password/type in your wifes' mothers' maiden name and all that b....cks etc, etc, etc - and I really like the way you can toggle between the OS map and the google map. Try it!

Well done Sam you wont forget your first long ride.

Just had a play with Bike hike really easy to use also confirms that my cheapo halfords Bike computer is accurate to within quarter of a mile over nearly 20.

I had to change the batteries I got with mine the next day, it was only £6, and it doesn't really work very well

I guess I'll buy a better one once I can find a summer job or something.

I might drop down to my LBS, and ask if I can work there, but instead of them paying me, say at the end of 6 months I get a bike

But I doubt they would do that :S
