Hi,

I have the new 09 Allez and I have fitted one bottel cage and my pump on the diangernal tube that leasd from the hanndle bars to the gears fine.

But the other screws for the 2nd bottle holder are so low that i can fit the 2nd bottle holder on the saddle tube, I thought there were meant to be higher up.

Any ideas on what I can do

I think your problem is similar to one I encountered with my Claude Butler tourer. Both the down tube and seat tube had been fitted with bosses (I thought to take bottle cages) but when I tried to fit the second it was too low and fouled the first (Falcon, who make CB bikes told me that one set is just for a pump!)

I got a little attachment from Halfords

http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/152/b125/zefal-gizmo-bottle-cage-clamp.html

- basically it is a plastic zip-tie with a threaded hole to fit a screw into. I put this higher up the down tube, used this as the upper mount for the bottle cage.

Admittedly I don't have the 09 version, but I manage to get two bottle holders on my Allez?

Looking at the 09 picture, the bosses don't seem to be in a different place to mine, so not sure where the problem lies. Are you using Specialized bottle holders?

i have the Allez triple and i have 2 bottles and a pump no problem.

Bottle cage on the diag. Bottle cage and pump on the upright. The pump came with a mounting bracket that keeps the pump to the left and the bottle cage fits on top.

Same. Admittedly it's one of those tiny Specialized pumps (ooh I love a bit of branding) and I keep it to the right but it works for me.

yeah my pump is a Spesh, but so as not to overboard with Spesh branding my bottle cages are Toepeak!

it is a 54inch fram, the 2 screws are either side of a metal ring that holds the gears on the frame

So the problem is that you can't attach the bottlecage because that ring is in the way ? (aka 'band-on front mech')

Then either a bottle case which allows bolting top & bottom but has a hollow between them so that there's room for the ring/band ?
Or maybe spacers (washers !) between frame and cage, then use longer bolts ?
Or maybe the pump bracket will fit over the band and act as spacer ?
