a little bit too much according to my waistline. Mrs sub is also in dire need of shedding a few pounds

2013 my goal is to lose all of the weight that has accumulated in the latter half of 2012 and some more.

to that end i have registered on www.myfitnesspal.com and started logging what i eat and what i do exercise wise. Mrs sub had also decided to do something similar but note book based not tinterwebby based. some support and help from my friends here would help too i have been told.

well thats me spilled me metaphorical guts. it all starts tomorrow 02 Jan 2013

Personally I found MFP quite motivational and once you get some momentum it was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. Once I hit target I kind of lost the plot for a few months but am trying to get back on the straight and narrow. Best of luck with it.

I'm back on it Today - going to log every single thing and hit my targets! It will seem time-consuming at first but when you have been using it for a few days, the common items are already listed, so less hassle adding them to your diary and of course, verifying the data is correct for the particular listing

I'm going to have a go at this too, was already starting my 'diet' today so this should help with the motivation and making it all more planned.
Not sure about the calorie figures quoted for my level of cycling though, might decrease the time a bit to allow for it.

So with tonights commute already pre-logged I can have 2253 calories, fill yer boots :hungry:

Yep the calorie estimates are inflated, imho. I tend to knock 20% off the estimates. SOme will say they are double the actual burn but in my experience they are more like 20-30% out, not 50%. I base this on my previous weight losses, compared to the weekly deficits I had accumulated on MFP. Many variables though, so I think there's a lot of trial, and error to be done. if in doubt, air on the side of caution. Good luck all

I've done similar and knocked the cycling time down by 1/3rd, seems OK at that and will keep an eye on it.
Totted up my intake so far and tonights meal, I still have 500+ cals left, things get trickier after midnight as I'm on night shift, so in theory that's a new day but for me it's tea time

I have just downed a Mars bar :shy: BUT I am still under my allowance by 10 cals

My preferred method is not to pay too much attention to the green numbers and aim for a reasonable and consistent target, each day. It will be somewhere between 2,200 and 2,700 per day but I do burn of quite a lot, due to the mileage and relative intensity of effort.
