No you're not. You're full of self doubt and confusion (a great big ball of... that's what the world is today).

..probably, when it comes to bike tecky stuff. Which is why I ask so many questions, which is why I learn. If I wasn't confused I wouldn't ask and would remain confused. I see no harm in that....I believe that the stupidest questions are the ones you don't ask.

Me too, still am. I've read all the threads about Cyclocross recently, saved a lot of questions. A very useful resource.

BTFB you have a great attitude, IMHO. You ask about something, you follow up the responses, you get serious, you chase down the details - and you produce some very interesting threads.

Thank YOU. ;)

Scary stuff this bike buying, init ?

..it is scary...I just sat on a 58 Giant carbon job...with some seat levitation I could have riden it i reckon...so wot am I doing riding all over europe on a 64?

Asking questions on here is a worthwhile exercise, there a slot of knowledge amoungst us and some really helpful peeps . I am also asking similar amounts of questions of the LBS's here and the exercise is a lot less rewarding ( but funnier on occassion!).
I reckon most of us in this forum know WAY more about stuff than the LBS staff...who are frankly a disgrace for the most part.

I heard another good one just now...Mum comes into lbs with young daughter on pink bike. Mum..."What size bike does she need?" LBS bloke...'depends how old she is luv'.

..maybe he is more clued up on sizing by age formulas..hmm...

Also I called a kinesis dealer...long chat about sizing and grand fondo frames, which he had nevber heard of. I am sold on this kinesisframe already but he decided to spend a long time trying to disuade me from kinesis onto a spesh roubaix...erm ..which he had in stock (although not in a 60)...told me kinesis were 'Uber expensive' and 'why buy an expensive alu frame which nobody has heard of when you can have a full carbon spesh'...I wonder if Kinesis are aware of how bad their dealerships are and how good those places are at pushing spesh bikes...who I suspect pay more commission maybe??

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that getting unbiased and accurate advice is impossible from a LBS...this is the place for that.

I can't remember exactly how tall you are BTFB but I think it's at least a couple of inches more than me (I'm 6' 1"). I used to ride a 60 cm Bianchi and found it a bit of a stretch until I put a shorter stem on.

I now ride 58 cm bikes (Cannondale and Basso) with normal length stems and find that size a better fit.

If you are about 6' 3", I'd have thought you'd need about a 60 or 61 cm bike. A 64 cm bike sounds pretty huge!
