Hydration questions

Pondering on the importance of maintaining hydration levels has lead me to seek answers to the following questions.

  1. I am familiar with the concept of carbo-loading prior to a long ride. Is there a liquid equivalent?
  2. Some drinks are diuretic. Are they fully effective at rehydrating and pass waste liquid to the bladder relatively quickly or do they pass through the system too quickly to be efficient?
  3. Is there something I could drink in large quantities which would keep me well-hydrated over time without having to stop frequently for a pee?
All advice, knowledge, observations and wit welcome.

I am not an expert, but I don't think overloading of fluids can be possible just from personal experience. Sometimes all I need is a pint of water before a ride and i'll need to stop multiple times for a pee.

I guess as long as you are not showing signs of dehydration prior to a ride i'd be inclined to just make sure you are taking enough fluids on whilst exercising.

I hold my hands up if im wrong, but i think that by the time you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated, and you are better taking small amounts of liquid frequently to avoid this from hapening.

Dont know the solution to the pee problem tho, but rest assured its far easier for a man to solve this than a woman
