Hi does anyone have any ideas for route around Huddersfield. I'm after a few ideas as I always end up going towards Buckstones and into Delph or dropping over towards Halifax. Just need a bit of inspiration.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
Holme Moss, Snake Pass ...?

Emley Moor, Yorkshire Sculpture Park ...?

Outlane, Barkisland, Norland Moor ...?

Buckstones, but then Scammonden, Booth Wood Reservoir, Baitings Reservoir ...

Get your self over here and head over to Widdop Reservoir, or to Haworth, or to ...

Jump on the train to Garforth with your bike and get some flat miles in out in the Vale of York. (£6.40 return, off-peak.)

There are lots and lots of possibilities!

What about Britains longest continuous climb, A58 down into Littleborough& the return trip, for a bit of fun.
Or maybe a quick trip up out of Elland to Ainley Top. Nice ride back down.

Go south! Holmfirth and then Holme Moss / Skye / Helm Edge and over through to either Glossop/Snake Pass or left onto Woodhead Pass, Transpennine Trail and back.

Woodhead Pass can be bad - which is why I do it on Sdaturday mornings.

I'm not sure where you're based, but my club (Ravensthorpe Cycling Club) do 2 Sat am runs from Mirfield to the Oil Can Cafe near New Mills and alternatively to the Windmills Garden Centre at Royd Moor.

I'm near Outlane in Hudds. Can anyone just turn up for the Sat rides? Where do you all set off from? Doesn't take me long to get to Ravensthorpe I work in Dewsbury so my morning commute takes me straight through Ravensthorpe.

The rides are aimed at club members - but under their insurance new riders are covered for up to 3 rides. The website's being re-done, so information's via their Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/41554187145/
The 8.45 am ride goes from the bridge by the Pear Tree Inn on Huddersfield Road, Mirfield and is 36 miles
The 9am ride goes from the 3 Nuns in Mirfield and to the Oil Can Cafe: http://holmfirthevents.co.uk/place/the-carding-shed/ (classic car garage meets retro cafe)

Alternatively, you're probably closer to the Huddersfield Star Wheelers club? http://www.starwheelers.com/
