Hub advice

Hello, I'm building up an early 80s road bike and want to use 80s Gipiemme Sprint or similar hubs (not yet sourced). The frame spacing seems to be 128mm. I have a 5 speed Italian threaded freewheel on it's way to me by post. Other than the threading, what specification do I need to look for in the hub? Will I need to use some sort of spacer, as I read that 5 speeds were originally fitted on frames with a 120mm span on the rear forks?

The front forks have a gap of a bit more than 10cm.

More likely to be 126mm spacing on the rear (standard for 6 speed rear hubs)

Thanks, yes, but can I go ahead and use the 5 speed freewheel?

So any hub works? Sorry I don't understand these things. Are the axles different lengths?
