The top ranked team in the world (and have been for a while now) with multiple stage victories in grand tours and as a result are probably also the most high profile team in the world too - who also have good record of bringing in and developing new talent cant get a sponsor so have to fold. Cant see this scenario happening in any other sport!

Very sad news. I can only assume that Cav leaving was already a done deal?? Without him its a very different proposition.

Great shame. The HTC train in full flight was a sight to behold.

Cannot add much more to that comment, really bad news I feel.

Five years is a fair whack for a cycle sponsor, they probably considered they had made their maximum effective return on publicity and did not consider any more investment worth while.

I wouldn't bet on Sky being the next home for Cav either.

Shame the most successful team disbanded due to no sponsor!

raises a question of other pro teams looking for future sponsors ??

Maybe it was the cost of keeping the number 1 team on top of the tree that scared all,

or that cav had already made plans to leave!

like buying a ferrari with the engine missing.

Is this only the mens team giong down the pan? Hope Bob can stick with the women's team though as women's cycling is sorely underfunded and publicised as it is.

It's shame to see the team fold, so all of the riders and other staff will be looking for new positions. I don't know where Cav will go but i'm not sure Sky would be his best option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
