I have been using a Bryton Rider 50 for a couple of months - once it was up and running it seems to be going fairly well.

Recently the HRM that was supplied with it seems to be cracking up. I have ridden 40 miles with an average HR of 80bpm and yesterday my resting HR was 30bpm! I have changed the batteries but still the same issues, on the Bryton website FAQ it talks about cleaning the sensors but it is a sealed unit within the belt with a clip on reader.

Any one know how to go about resolving this issue or had similar issues with other HRMs?

It was bought from Halfords in August so if all else fails I will have to go back there.
