how to true a wheel

I've noticed that my front wheel is a little wobbly and I want to true it.
I think it may effect the disc brakes.
I've seen on youtube how to true with v-brakes
are their any tricks that work with disc brakes?

If you're referring to using rim brakes as calipers to indicate where to tweak, just use a couple of cable ties - one on each fork/stay.

The wheel rim being out of true shouldn't affect the disc brakes, as the discs attach directly to hub.
