Tomorrow, I'm cycling to an event to watch my cousin take part in Insane Terrain. It's only about 13 miles there, so a nice easy cycle. But I want to cycle back as well, and the last time I did a trip with a break in the middle, the second half was flipping 'orrible my legs had just given up and already gone home. Any tips to avoid that feeling, so I can make sure I can cycle home without calling for the road crew?!

Stop for at least an hour and have protein-containing food and a beer. Works for me. ;) Short stops aren't so good: on Monday, after a short cafe stop, someone seemed to have replaced my saddle with one that was all corners!

Stretches whilst off the bike, drink and eat something whilst there (salty crisps) and turn a lighter gear on the way back.

Can you give me some feedback on the event, I know Ashley who owns the company, it would be nice to tell him it's rubbish, as he tells me otherwise!

Thanks! Yep, will do. I suspect I will enjoy it as a spectator more than my poor cousin!!! Insane is the right word...

Well, you can tell him it's rubbish if you want.....but it really wasn't! Good turn out, three start times. Well organised, and a really good event. Of course, that was from a spectator's point of view!! The course looked suitably 'orrid :-)
I'd love a go on the bubble slide at the end, but wouldn't want to do the 5k over hay bales and through mud beforehand....

You will get use to it the more you ride, I do the W.N.B.R. in June in York, its nothing taxing, but its 25 miles there, then a sit around for everyone to mass, then a short trundle round York, approx 7-8 miles, then get dressed, then the ride home, fluid flapjacks fig rolls, the ride home is usually longer as I try to make it 100km for the day.
