We all know how hard it can be to stick to a diet and lose weight. I had tried and failed several times before Mother Nature would give me a mini stroke at 30 as a little warning for me to lay off the cheese.

In 12 months I've lost 7st 9lbs. I've done this by walking, cycling and using the Wii Fit. The main contributor has to have been staring hard at my calorie intake each day..... No point eating an entire chocolate cake, going to the chippy and then thinking you can burn it all off with a quick pedal to the end of the road and back.

I've now reached a problem though. I'm trying to stay at my current weight of 10st 12lbs but I am finding it hard to maintain it. I'm that used to being active and watching what I eat now, that every few days another lb has dropped off.

Any tips I can try? My current theory is trying to build up my muscles, as I've turned into a bit of a weed. Muscles are heavier than fat, right?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Protein, get more of it into your system. If you are working out on a regular basis, then you may need more protein in your diet. It's hard to say how much, but you can use tools like this http://www.healthcalculators.org/calculators/protein.asp to get an estimate.

I noticed a big difference in controlling my wieght once I started eating over 100grams of protein a day.

Thanks for the info on protein. I'm probably getting a lot less of it than I used to. I could happily eat 3 or 4 packets of cheese in a day, which isn't exactly a good idea. I've been a vegetarian for 14 years so people often question my protein intake. I've generally just looked at labels on food and as long as there is protein in it, I've not bothered considering the numbers. A few more nuts and beans, and a few less microwave chips, it seems, may be a safe bet to balance me out!
