How do you route a wired computer and wired cadence sensor? How to make it look clean? Do you use tapes or zip ties? Pictures welcome!

Cadence - oh no not wired.

Wired speed from the front is easy - straight up the rear inner of the fork - tie at sensor and just below crown, then pass under crown onto brake, then up brake cable (wound round it to take up excess) then onto bar.

Wired cadence, then you'll have to go up the chainring (front) shifter cable.

Go wireless !!!

Thanks! I haven't got it yet. Just wondering how to route the two wires. I agree with you. Best option is to go wireless.

I've been considering wired computers because they are cheaper. I also don't mind the speed wire. I don't want my bike looking like someone dropped spaghetti on it.

Is there a wired computer (speed) with wireless cadence sensor?

On mine, I route the cadence sensor down the downtube - I did see a neater setup on a Planet X frame where it wound around the derailleur cable - would be a bit of a pain when you needed to change that though.

The BC1606L's cadence sensor makes about two or three turns around the downtube, iirc - at the chainstay end it goes around the seat tube then onto the stay. At the computer end it goes around the headtube then up the brake cable outer.

OT, a bloke at the club has got a new Trek Madone and its cadence/speed sensor is a thing of beauty, built into the chain stay :becool:

You should be able to see how I've done it on this piccie, click the piccie and then the magnifying glass, top right, to zoom and the use the little panel at the bottom right to zoom in closer

Cable goes around a gear cable and down the downtube, held with a cable at the top, middle by the water bottle and end before the bb. I don't wrap it around the BB. Then install cadence sensor and wheel sensor further along the chainstay. All of the cable ties were pulled tight with pliers and the the only thing I do is yank the cables taught occasionally. Personally I don't think it's too bad and a damn sight cheaper than a wireless install.

I reckon, in the future, all the mid-top end bikes will come with that. Definitely very nice! Thanks everyone and also Crackle for the picture.

I'm getting a Cateye Strada which comes with a twin wire (speed and cadence).

I've got a wireless computer with heart monitor but I've only used the belt for a couple of times. Cadence monitoring will be more useful to me at this moment.

Cheers.
