My front brake failed going downhill - I managed to stop but was scary. So yesterday set about making sure the brakes were okay - I followed a Halfords video on youtube - brake lever seemed a bit soft (extending back to handle bar) but brake worked.
However, went out today - was going down a steep hill and same thing happened - managed to control it with back brake but still scary. The front brake seems to hold then there is a click and it fails.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Had the bike into Halfords about a month ago - after a similar problem - was assured the pads had plenty of wear left and the brake was fixed and was okay until the weekend.
Could it just be a case of a new brake cable - tried everything and the problem re-occurs.
