I am trying to fix up a TREK 7.3fx but have little experience of fixing up bikes.

The bike does not have a chain and so I need to choose one first.

I have discovered that the Trek 7.3 fx has a KMC X9 chain which is 1/2 inch x 11/128inch, 116 links

Maths is not my strong point.

I have found the following chains. Will any of these fit the Bill?

The bike is an 8 speed with deore gears if that helps.

You need the top one. 1/2 x 3/32" x 116 links.

They are all 1/2 inch chains. 1/2 inch refers to the pitch of the sprockets, distance from tooth to tooth. The next measurement is the width and thereafter it is the number of links. You will have too many links and will need a tool to break the chain. Ask for a quick-link or master-link for that chain so that you can easily get it on and off .

1/2x1/8 is a single speed chain. 1/2x3/32 is usual 6/7/8 speed chain but you said it should have X9 on it which I'd expect to be 9speed which is thinner. Maybe try the 3/32 but not be surprised if it really needs 9speed chain. Odd.

This is what I have. There are 8 sprockets.

I have a chain breaker on the multitool and I will get a Quick link. Thanks for your help.
