Have just got a second hand Boardman ADV 8.9 and want to put my garmin on it, but cannot see how to add it. Handlebars are all handles and are quite fat. Anyone got any ideas?

Longer zip ties through the handlebar mount. Or mount on the stem.

Picture might help?
Generally the Garmin quarter turn mount comes with various size rubber bands that should fit. If space is tight I mount my Garmin onto the stem.
Another option is to buy an out front mount that clamps onto the handlebars

Personally I like the unit out in front of the bars for most comfortable use and have an out-front mount for my Polar which takes up about 1/4" of bar width near the stem clamp.

That said if this isn't possible the stem body or top of the headset (with a replacement cap) should be viable.

Take a look on ebay - many people do mounts for Garmins and you're sure to find something that fits..

The Boardman ADV8.9 doesn't have unusually fat handlebars. The standard Garmin mount should fit quite easily. I have no idea what you mean by "handlebars are all handles". It is a perfectly normal road/gravel bike, with perfectly normal handlebars.

hmmm another new member vague daft question thread.

OP is probably new to bikes or new to drop bars. "It's all handle" probably means the tops are of course wrapped with bar tape until close to the stem. They may not have seen out front mounts before.

Use something like this https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/114881clamped to the bar near the stem.
Or like this bolted to the stem itself.

I have 3 of those Dymoece mounts on different bikes.

Ah. If he means taped, then you can just clamp the mount over the tape.

Don't the garmins come with an out front mount? I've only used a Wahoo, and that does.

Maybe you have an answer for the OP @PedallingNowhereSlowly ? Or can improve on my suggestions (post #11 ^) to the OP?
