Hi everyone I am quite new to the forum, as you can probably see, and hopefully in writing in the right place.

I've just seen a bike that i mght want to buy, I just don't know if it is worth 130 pounds. Actually i think its a little too much, but if its working OK I'm willing to give a little more.



OK so here are the aspects, atleast what claims the seller:


Classic Carrera Monza Racing Bike

Reynolds 531 Frame (53cm from base to top of seat tube)
14 Speed Shimano down tube gears

Shimano Calliper brakes

700*23 Wheels

Nearly new Maxxis Re- Fuse tyres (bought for £55)

Quick release wheels

New peddals

Recently serviced, this bike has been kept in great condition and would be an ideal first time road bike.

I think this is similar and was advertised for £200 in Feb 11 and sold but not sure for how much. Wait for more replies from more experienced members about this type of bikes who'll be able to advice better. Only thing I would say is (as I have seen the original ad on another site) I would always make an offer first

ok, thanks, oh and btw I'm like 5' 9" tall thats like 175 cm, so I'd need like a 54 cm sized frame, but as this may be my first road bike, and I don't intend t use it professionally, i think it'll suite me.

I'm the same size and you need a 54cm bike (+ or - a bit depending on leg measurement).

Unfortunately that bike is not a 53cm - it's huge!

The measurement should be from the centre of the BB to the top of the seat tube - I would get the seller to re-measure it.

Yep, I'll remesure it for sure, but first I need to know if it is worth it buying than the other details....

The value lies in the frame - you need to have a look at the 531 sticker to see if the whole frame and forks are 531.

531 for £130? Well worth it, proper cheap: framesets go for that, never mind whole bikes!

If you don't want, I'll have it...

PS Judging by the photos, it looks to be a similar size to mine which is 24": I'm 6' 3".
