I was wondering how far do forum members commute.
Ive read alot about distances cycled on a one off basis but reading about the importance of recovery time etc imho nothing beats a daily commute.
I did 80 miles watford - reading return yesterday on a one of basis - i wonder if anyone does a comprable daily commute ?

80 miles!? That would be some sort of superhuman feat!

Depending on my mood, there are four routes to work: The shortest is 7 1/2 miles each way , the longest is 15 miles each way.

Shortest for me is 1.5, most mornings I do 32 and then the 1.5 home.

BK I used to consistently do 25 each way

Sadly I live 1.8m from work, so choose to do 16m-28m circuits after work every day

Thats still impressive particularly if you do it every day.
I used to work with a bloke who would cycle 10 miles to work maybe 2 or 3 times a week and everyone at work welcomed his as some kind of superhero (me included).

It's actually quicker than getting the train though!

40 mins on bike, lovely shower when I get to work V 1hr 20 on trains with miserable people who love standing in the doorway, even though said train is far from full and tutting when you ask them to move down.

Mine is about 7 miles each way, and takes 30 mins (less if I'm on my Croix de Fer).

When I started it was quite tiring, but now I hardly break a sweat, so I've started doing 10-15 miles home, on the days when I don't have the boy on the back.

Here for rides.
40km round trip three times a week.

Sometimes I ride up to London for work. Twice, I think, I've ridden back (late).

Once I rode from Reading to Oxford (and home to Guildford) to go on a course.

I have 2 routes.
The direct route is 13 miles each way, of which I rarely do.

My usual longer route is 18 miles in, 17 miles home, so a 35 mile round commute most days.
I also commute in all weathers apart from ice and/or snow.

Mine is about 7 miles each way, but a couple of times a week I go via a trip to the swimming pool, which increases my morning commute to about 12 miles.

I try to take the MTB once a week, and go the long way (14 miles) in the morning though fields and a purpose built MTB track.

I've also started to try and cycle in fixed gear once a week - But that's a new thing, and it's hard work on the way back! (about 600 feet of climbing if I go "the flat" way ).
