At the moment I have a full plastic toolbox which really isn't enough as I can't close it. I've got all sorts of tools plus spare small parts and cleaning stuff. On top of that, I've got another box full of tubes, gels, new chains and spare cassettes.

What do you use? Ideally I'd like something which will give a little more order so I can easily find things in one place.

I have 2 tool boxes, one contains general DIY tools and the other is cycling specific tools. I have a magnetic strip (from probikekit) on the wall that holds frequently used tools such as allen keys, screwdrivers etc.
Ideally I'd like a peg board, which is something I might get around to over the next year, it's probably worth it considering the time I spend meddling with my bikes.

I too have two tool boxes.
One came with the house and is brick construction, and the other is an 'add-on' of timber construction.

Each are fitted with shelves for storing the tools in logical order. The larger has a bench with driller and a small lathe in the corner.

The larger one even has a fridge for refreshments.

I am in the final stages of constructing a tool chest for my tools. I thought it was the ultimate in custom tool luxury until I read jimbo's post.

I looked at the price of the Snap-On type tool chests and balked. But I had lots of left-over bits of ply and MDF, so I built one with two deep drawers for power tools and bulky things and five shallow ones for other things.

To help me remember which tools were in which drawer, each drawer is painted a different colour, with pink at the top, then red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and er, well, dark purple.

Having a bit of trouble getting the runners working nicely, but I'll get there.

I like it - in that case, the family toolbox is a 500 year old tithe barn

Unfortunately I was thinking of something a little more portable that can be put in the boot of a car.

I have different toolboxes for different purposes: one for plumbing, one for electrics etc.

So I have one for cycling tools.

I also keep a shoe box with spares and a few tools, a decathlon bike stand, a track pump, some spray stuff and a lidl bike tool set in the car boot.

Ideally i would love a nice big tool box and it to be all organised.
Really, they are just on the floor in the shed somewhere, or on a shelf because they havent been knocked on the floor yet:wacko:

I got a toolbox or two. but most of them are on the wall on little hooks. Makes a lot of sense really, always available and easy to see what you want.
